Getting inside the venu
Please note the venue does not have a reception or doorbell and staff may not know you have arrived as they will be on the first floor. If you need assistance please call 01243 767063.
Entrance
The entrance door is up a shallow gradient, ramped alleyway (approx 125cm wide). The entrance door opens outwards with pull down handle. There is one step up to the door (approx 25 cm tall). The door is 82 cm wide.
Wheelchairs and other mobility aids can't be stored in the alley. But they may be stored on the right after you enter - so long as they don't block the door in any way as this is the only exit and fire exit.
Stairway and inner entrance door
Our venue is on the first floor and there is no lift. The only access is via the staircase. It is 93 cm wide, with a handrail to the right side as you ascend. There are 16 steps to the top and no passing place.
The inner entrance is to the right of the top of the stairs. The doorway is 82 cm wide, has a handle and pushes inwards only. It is a heavy fire door.
Toilet
There is one toilet, straight ahead and right past the counter as you enter. There is a 96 cm gap between the edge of the counter and the inner entrance door (when open).
The toilet door is 82 cm wide. It opens inwards with a push down handle. The door lock is a little stiff to the back of the door and requires lifting up and down to lock/ unlock.
Hand dryer and sink require standing to be used due to their height.
There are no handrails or emergency cords.
Inside the Gaming Rooms
The opening to the east wing (left as you enter) is approx 140 cm wide. After passing it, there is a sofa area to the right with a central coffee table and two sofas either side. The first table you reach is possibly best, as there's then a fairly tight space between the tables and a shelving unit (approx 70 cm wide). Once you pass this and the tables, there is a further sofa area, near some board game shelves.
If you're attending one of our events and need accessible seating, we encourage you to email us at admin@cgc-emporium.com. This is not a requirement, but it does mean we can try to reserve you a seat on the first table, which is easier to access and move away from during busy times. If you have particular seating needs, please don't be afraid to ask at the counter as we may be able to help or ask people if they can move up a bit to make sure everyone can enjoy the venue.
Warhammer Area
This is on the right of the inner entrance. There are two steps down with a handrail either side. There's a sink to the left after the stairs.
The space is filled with standing height tables and armless and backless stools. There's a tight gap between tables and the wall (approx 82 cm at the narrowest point).
The D&D Room
To access the D&D room you must descend the steps to the Warhammer Area (two steps with handrail either side) and pass through the table area.
There is a door to the room that opens inwards with a push down handle (82 cm wide).
Once inside, there are tight spaces to manoeuvre around a large central table and chairs, which can be tucked in to a limited extent.
