New Comics Day 3rd October 2018 - Indie-Tober Begins

This week has a distinctly indie theme with lots of interesting new titles being released by the smaller publishers - so this bulletin is going to focus on those rather than the big two(who are still pushing out some great books this week but don't need us to shout about them).

Blackbird #1 has art from upcoming superstar Jen Bartel and writing by Sam Humphries - In this neo-noir fantasy, Nina Rodriguez is positive that a secret magic world ruled by ruthless cabals is hiding just beneath the veneer of Los Angeles. The problem: everyone thinks she's crazy. The bigger problem: she's not crazy - she's right.

Battlestar Galactica is 40 and we get a new series from Dynamite to celebrate! Commander Adama and the remnants of humanity discover a second fugitive fleet, fleeing a different mortal enemy. Can the two armadas join forces, making common cause against the dreaded Cylons?

Check out Dead Rabbit #1! Back in the '90s, DEAD RABBIT was a prolific Boston stick-up man and hoodlum, until he took down one last big score and disappeared. Nobody ever discovered the truth: he retired to be with the love of his life. Now he's back in the mask to save her, but no one-not his wife, the mafia, or the cops-is happy that he's out of retirement.

Jook Joint #1 brings us some southern style horror in the vein of Rednecks - Mahalia runs the hottest spot in all of 1950s New Orleans. The Jook Joint keeps the jazz popping, people bopping... and the women? The women are to die for....

We have long evangelised the Nameless City series from Faith Erin Hicks and Jordie Bellaire and the final volume, The Divided Earth,  is now out :D - Perfect for both young and older readers the whole series is a joy from start to finish.

Similarly suitable for all ages, Rainbow Brite #1 comes to comics and brings a little colour to your life! Wisp and Willow are best friends who live in a small town. They are inseparable, until one night Wisp discovers something is stealing the colour from the world!

Sparrowhawk #1 - Teen Victorian fairy fight club - 'nuff said!

Umbrella Academy is back in Hotel Oblivion #1- just a few years after Hargreeves's death, his Umbrella Academy is scattered. Number Five is a hired gun, Kraken is stalking big game, Rumor is dealing with the wreckage of her marriage, a rotund Spaceboy runs around the streets of Tokyo, Vanya continues her physical therapy after being shot in the head- With a Netflix series soon to debut, the award-winning and best-selling superhero series returns, stranger than ever...

Browse away below to check out all the other books and as ever let us know what needs to magically appear in your pull list!

See you all in the shop soon & have a great week!
