War of The Realms. That's it. That's this weeks new releases...
Only kidding folks, although there are twelve different covers for you to choose from, for this tale of Malekith trying to take over the one remaining realm that has yet to fall to his forces... Midgard! Which is Earth for those of you not totally up to date with the geography of the Thunder God.
However, Marvel are also giving us some other titles that are not to be Sif-fed at, such as Major X #1 (Rob Liefeld), in which the king of pouches gives us a new threat to the X-Men, Marvel Action: Black Panther #1 (Kyle Baker), a new all-ages adventure featuring both T'Challa and Shuri, and Marvel Team Up #1 (Eve Ewing, Joey Vazquez) with Spider-Man and Ms Marvel swinging in to action together. On the trade side they have also got the Avengers Endgame Prelude (Will Corona Pilgrim, Jim Starlin, Brian Michael Bendis, Paco Diaz, George Perez, Valerio Schiti), along with the new graphic novel Spidey: Freshman Year (Robbie Thompson, Nick Bradshaw, Andre Araujo, Nathan Stockman) and for the Star Wars fans there is an exploration of the early years of everyone's favourite Sith lord, Darth Vader (Charles Soule, Giuseppe Camuncoli) in a new hardback collected edition.
After the mission to take over the shelves for Batman's birthday last week DC are back with... Batman? Detective Comics: Deface The Face (James Robinson, Carmine Di Giandomenico, Stephen Segovia) see Harvey Dent and Jim Gordon meeting up for the first time in a long time, Teen Titans: Full Throttle (Adam Glass, Robson Rocha, Daniel Henriques, Scott Hanna, Bernard Chang) gives us some new characters in the line-up, and there is also a new 'essential edition' of Final Crisis (Grant Morrison, all the artists) for you to gaze at.
From the independent publishers this week there is a thunderous mix of new titles and trades, including the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (Alan Moore, Kevin O'Neil) Jubilee edition hardcover, Shutter (Joseph Keatinge, Leila Del Duca) volume 1, Lady Death (Mike Wolfer, Brian Pulido, Marcelo Mueller, Richard Ortiz) volume 1, collecting the first eight issues of the on-going series, and Jesusfreak (Joe Casey, Benjamin Marra) hardcover edition.
New titles for you to Jane Foster an interest in include Obey Me #1 (Mario Mentasti, Emmanuel Ordaz Torres, Ben Herrera) in which two collectors have trouble retrieving a soul from a debtor, Hellchild Blood Money #1 (Ralph Tedesco, Marco Mastrazzo) featuring a bodyguard sucked into the world of dark world of a lowlife politician, Section Zero #1 (Tom Grummett, Karl Kesel), described as "Jack Kirby meets the X-Files", and Jim Henson Storyteller: Sirens #1 (Bartosz Sztybor, Jakub Rebelka) featuring a re-imagining of a classic Polish folktale.
Plus there are one-shots from Curse Words: Spring Has Sprung (Charles Soule, Ryan Browne), which features a love story proving why the book is called Curse Words, and Danger Girls: Dangerous Visions 3D (J. Scott Campbell, Andy Hartnell), which comes with it's very own set of 3D glasses!
