New Comics Day 20th February 2019 - It's the end(s) of the world as we know it...

Lets start big this week and see what is landing in the new trade section of the store, because there's a lot of awesome books coming out that you might want to get your mitts on... Bully Wars vol 1 (Skottie Young, Aaron Conley) is up first, with Young bringing his trademark humour and acerbic wit to the idea of all the mean kids from school being entered into a Battle Royale to see who gets to rule the corridors - although if the nerds have their way it won't be the biggest or toughest that wins this year...! Also new this week is High Crimes (Christopher Sebela, Ibrahim Moustafa), a tale of deception and death set high in the Himalayas, with government agents going after tour guide graverobbers who find the wrong family to extort...

After something a bit more mainstream? How about everyone's favourite mercenary donning a dead mans tuxedo and facing off again some spies in Secret Agent Deadpool (Christopher Hastings, Salva Espin, David Nakayama)? Or go all the way to the indie side of town with I Am Not Okay With This (Charles Forsman), a tale of teen angst, PTSD and sexual confusion told in mini-comics by the creator of The End of the F***ing World...

Single issue wise the week sees Marvel bring out (yet another!) new Age of X-Man title, but seeing as Amazing Nightcrawler #1 (Sean McGuire, Juan Frigeri, Shane Davis, Michelle Delecki, Federico Blee) features everyones favourite blue bamfer Kurt Wagner, who can blame them?! The House of Ideas are also carrying on their recent spate of throwback titles, this time giving us Love Romance #1 (Dennis Hopeless, Gail Simone, Jon Adams, Pyeong Jun Park), asking those all important questions - can robots fall in love? Is romance just a fantasy? Does love triumph over death? I'll be honest, you'll just have to buy it to find out... Much like Hulkverines #1 from Greg Pak which pits Weapon-H against his two dads Hulk and Wolverine!

DC apparently didn't feel like putting out any new #1s this week, but fret not! They still have plenty of titles to choose from, such as Naomi #2 (Brian Michael Bendis, David F. Walker, Jamal Campbell), Nightwing #57 (Scott Lobdell, Zack Kaplan, Travis Moore, Chris Mooneyham), and Justice League #18 (James Tynion IV, Pasqual Ferry, Francis Manapul) due out this week. Plus Aquaman #45 (Kelly Sue DeConnick, Robson Rocha, Daniel Henriques) gives us a new baddie for Arthur to contend with, and there's also some book called Batman #65 (Joshua Williamson, Guillem March, Chris Burnham) coming out that some people apparently like?! I don't think he'll catch on...

There's also a lot to choose from if you want a new title from an independent publisher, with Aftershock publishing Stronghold #1 (Phil Hester, Ryan Kelly), which envisages Earth as a giant prison designed for one very specific captive, who doesn't actually know that they're a prisoner - don't you hate it when that happens? Slightly less serious sounding is Sharkey Bounty Hunter #1 of 6 (Mark Millar, Simone Bianchi), featuring a bounty hunter driving rocket-powered ice cream truck! Enjoyed playing Crackdown (Jonathan David Goff, Ricardo Jaime) on the XBox? Look no further than this new title from Dynamite.

Or if you prefer something even more post-apocalyptic check out High Level #1 (Rob Sheridan, Barnaby Bagenda, Romulo Fajardo, Francesco Mattina), Incursion #1 (Andy Diggle, Alex Paknadel, Doug Braithwaite) or Anthem #1 (Alexander Freed, Mac Walters, Eduardo Francisco), which are all different takes on the "humanity is f***ed" theme. Which seems as good a place to end as any!

Don't forget to let us know what you would like added to your pull lists from this weeks releases. See you all in the shop soon & have a great week!
