Rather excitingly this week we have a surprise release from Boom Studios - Angel #0 is arriving, continuing Booms successful relaunch of the Whedonverse, with no PR or other information (it was even given a fake codename at the distributors to mystify things further) - Buffy fans will no doubt rejoice to have the moody vampire back on the comics roster :D
Elsewhere, DC don't want to overburden your not-quite-payday-bank-balance this week, so they have just a drop in the ocean with only two trades and no new single issues: Damage vol2: Scorched Earth (Robert Venditti, Diogenes Neves, Tom Derenick, Aaron Lopresti, Matt Ryan, Trevor Scott, Sean Parsons) and Wonder Woman vol8: Dark Gods (James Robinson (A) Stephen Segovia, Jesus Merino, Emanuela Lupacchino, Marc Laming, Frazer Irving, Jim Calafiore, Andy Owens, Ray McCarthy, Rick Leonardi)
Marvel are also playing nice, with event tie-in War of the Realms: The Punisher #1 (Gerry Duggan, Marcelo Ferreira) in which the anti-hero rains down with great vengeance, and franchise favourites Star Wars: Tie Fighter #1 (Jody Houser, Roge Antonia) and Star Wars Age of Rebellion Special (Marc Guggenheim, Jonathan Adams, Si Spurrier, Jonathan Adams, Caspar Wijngaard, Andrea Broccardo) being their only new titles this week.
Fret not though dear readers, for the independent publishers wish to shower you with ALL of the new titles and trades. Yes. All of them. Ready to dive in...?
First of is Xena: Warrior Princess #1 (Vita Ayala, Olympia Sweetman), which sees everyone's favourite leather-clad battle Princess and her trusted companion Gabrielle taking on a mystery that needs to be solved before the Gods become involved. Sticking with bad ass women, Mary Shelley Monster Hunter #1 (Adam Glass, Olivia Cuartero-Briggs, Hayden Sherman) gives us an alternate take on the Gothic classic, that sees the author not imagining the story of Frankenstein and his monster, but (hopefully) living through it... Still want more heroines? Fine, how about Oz: Heart of Magic #1 (Terry Kavanagh, Marcelo Mueller) from Zenescope, continuing their saga of Dorothy and her fight against the Wizard.
If you are after a longer read then boy do we have a whole pile of trades for you to chose from this week! There is Crossed: Which You Were Here vol1 (Simon Spurrier, Javier Barreno) which sees a small community on a barren Scottish island try to fend off the infected survivors of a global plague. Shatter Star vol1 (Tim Seeley, Carlos Villa, Gerardo Sandoval) sees a former warrior who thought he had found peace thrust back in to his former life, and Magic Order vol1 (Mark Millar, Olivier Coipel) which gives us the tale of the five families of magician who defend us all from the monsters we don't know exist, so that we can sleep in our beds at night... You can delve back in to the mystery of the black barn with Gideon Falls vol2: Original Sins (Jeff Lemire, Andrea Sorrentino).
Finally there is the Samurai Chef TP (Nigel Twumasi, Anna Liisa Jones) which gives a sword-wielding spin to the classic baking show idea, and the Serious TP (Lao Karunwi, Anna Liisa Jones) where a young bunny tries to drag himself up the social structure in the Jungle a fierce city where rest is for the weak...
Oof, now that we've drowned you with all these titles, don't forget to let us know what you would like added to your pull lists from this weeks releases. See you all in the shop soon & have a great week!
