Big excitement for comics readers this week Warren Ellis' return to Wildstorm hits the shelves Wednesday!
The lovable curmudgeon that brought us such works as Transmetropolitan (which given our current political climate may never have been more relevant), Planetary and Injection (which both take you on a walk on the weird side), Iron Man Extremis (which brought Tony Stark properly into the 21st century and served as inspiration for Iron Man 3 (book is better than the movie folks)), the Authority (which brought us Apollo and Midnighter and served as a nice reflection to the whiter than white Justice league), the excellent James Bond, and my personal favourite Global Frequency (what happens if Thunderbirds were a bunch of spies saving us from our own nightmarish creations rather than a wealthy family on a jolly saving the world) is directing the Wildstorm universe for the next 4 years and it's looking like it's going to be awesome. I am really really excited.
In a more sombre note Joe Haldeman's the Forever War kicks off in comic form. This is space opera as written by a Vietnam vet inspired by his time in Vietnam. The books they are based on are not for the faint of heart, so expect some brutal storytelling and art. It's likely that this isn't a series you're going to easily forget.
On a considerably lighter note, this week brings us the DC Rebirth of The Super Sons! Superboy and Robin take a break from the Super Dads and Super Mom (amusingly Batman is a single parent working two jobs) to carve out a little piece of history for themselves taking on an villain who's also growing in power. Will the boys cope with going it alone? Will they have to run to their parents for help? What does Batman put in Robin's packed lunch?
Have a great week! See you on Wednesday!

PS For those other Warren Ellis fanboy's out there, he's written an animated Castlevania TV show for Netflix, should be out this year!
PPS What does Batman put in Robin's lunchbox? Best answer in the comments gets a copy of Wildstorm #1 on me!
NEW #1 COMICS & ONE-SHOTS
• Doctor Strange gets sucked into the monster event of the year!
• Too bad for the Marvel Universe that Strange is at his lowest power levels.
• What's a Sorcerer Supreme to do?
And that woman-Angela Spica, sick from the transhuman implants she's buried in her own body-is the only person who can save him.
What she doesn't know is that the act of saving that one man will tip over a vast and secret house of cards that encloses the entire world, if not the inner solar system. This is how the Wild Storm begins, and it may destroy covert power structures, secret space programs and even all of human history.
New York Times best-selling writer Warren Ellis (TRANSMETROPOLITAN, RED, PLANETARY) returns to DC to curate Jim Lee's WildStorm world, with this debut issue resetting the WildStorm universe with new iterations of Grifter, Voodoo, the Engineer, Jenny Sparks and others.
"I couldn't be more excited to see these characters that are so near and dear to me reintroduced under the guiding hand of Warren Ellis. WildStorm represents an incredibly fun and exciting period in my career, and I can't wait to see what Warren and Jon have in store for fans in February."-Jim Lee, DC Comics Co-Publisher
