New Comics Day 18/10/2017 - Lobotamy Maestro

Hello, Good Evening and Welcome to our swanky new look, New Comics Day blog post - As ever - all this week's releases are shown in alphabetical order so you can find anything specific you are looking for or just browse for anything that might interest you.

Clicking a product will bring up full details plus you can add it to the online cart then and there if you want, before continuing to browse the rest of the releases.

Let us know what you think!

IDW's new imprint Black Crown gives us it's first release Kid Lobotomy - from Pete Milligan (writer of the popular Britannia for Valiant amongst other titles) and Rat Queens artist Tess Fowler. "Kafka meets King Lear by way of Young Frankenstein" pretty much means you have to give this a try - possibly picking up the Frank Quietly variant cover? ;)

Image give us Maestros #1 from Steve Skroce which Owen summed up as King Ralph with magic, but Brian K Vaughn of Saga fame does rather better with... "MAESTROS is a masterpiece, with one of the best first issues I've ever read. Steve is somehow an even greater writer than he is an artist. Get ready for your new favourite comic." -BRIAN K. VAUGHAN

Marvel return us to Planet Hulk in Incredible Hulk #709 which also has a shiny lenticular cover option and is a great jumping on point for any Hulk fans (plus we have new stock of the original Planet Hulk storyline in as well)

Marvel also brings us the somewhat spoilery titled Death of Mighty Thor in #700 - this should be a huge storyline for Thor and another great jumping on point.

We all know Deadpool is best when paired with a grumpy old man so Deadpool Vs Old Man Logan #1 should be pretty fantastic!

Black Hammer won an Eisner award recently and now lucky readers get an offshoot series SHERLOCK FRANKENSTEIN & LEGION OF EVIL #1 - with a variant Mignola cover this looks to add depth to the main series and is pretty fantastic by itself (we got a little sneak peek at it already :D)!

Metal one-shots continue with The Drowned aka Evil Aquabatman plus we have the second print of The Red Death if you missed it.

Outside of the funny books the frankly bizarre Plastic series from Image is collected in a TP and scored a 9.5 on CGC's Weirdshitometer. This was followed closely by Warren Ellis' Wildstorm which gets the first 6 issues collected as well this week.

We also have the first wave of 2018 calendars arriving for those of you wanting to get a head start on your crimbo shopping.

We also have limited stock of Scott Pilgrims Precious Little Card Game which is a must for fans of the series and deck building card games!

That's it for this week - Again let us know what you think of the new format!

Owen & Tom
