New Games in Store!

Tom Trinder

In the 3 months we've been open things have changed a lot here at CGC. We're running regular events (Magic Mondays, and our Casual Yu-Gi-Oh! Wednesdays), our comics "Pull List" now requires 2 boxes, we're getting even more miniatures in, and our games shelves are starting to look like the ones we have at home.

With the last point in mind we thought we should update you all on recent additions we've had to the games here at Comics Games and Coffee.

Tsuro

In Tsuro, you take on the role of a dragon, following the currents of the ever changing winds. Each turn you will draw a tile and play one from your hand moving your dragon along the path it describes. At first all is well as you forge your own path, but as the board starts to fill you can find yourself propelled down the wake of other dragons, and if you're not careful off the board. The winner is the last dragon standing.

It's a great game, fast, tense and suitable for most ages. For those of you with kids it's an easy game to pull out for 15 minutes of fun before bed.

Zombicide: Black Plague

A brand new game from the makers of the ever popular Zombicide. This one takes place in the dark ages, when men were men and Nun's were apparently sword wielding sociopaths with something to prove.

The game plays very well escalating as you have come to expect with a Zombicide game, everything's going fine, it's all under control and then all of a sudden it's not and you're having your face eaten.

The rather cheeky first expansion for Zombicide: Black Plague, Zombicide: Wulfsburg is out this week and should make the game even more fun and deadly.

Junta

The classic cutthroat game of brutal dictatorship, bananas, and funnelling pesos into a Swiss bank account is back and looking dapper in it's new box.

Junta is a game for people who don't enjoy coop games it's one for the competitive types, people who like a bit of betrayal, backstabbing and lying. You can assassinate people's families, embezzle money from international aid agencies and generally attempt to out-bastard your fellow players.

If you're looking like you're going to win it's likely that it's only because the other shoe hasn't dropped yet.

It's a classic and with up to 7 players it can cater to larger crowds, although whether you'll be talking to your "friends" at the end of it is another matter.

Takenoko

One of our most handled games (second only to the excellent Tokaido) Takenoko is a game
where you score points based on feeding a panda coloured bamboo you have painstakingly cultivated. It's very cute, ideal for family play with an age limit low enough that most game playing kids can get involved.

It features a delightfully painted Panda and gardener to move around the imperial gardens, stackable bamboo and beautiful tiles.

Wil Wheaton did an excellent tabletop episode on the Takenoko and it's well worth checking out.

Portal

Yes that Portal, but a board game. Billing itself as "The Uncooperative Cake Acquisition Game" with some of the funniest cover pictures and text we've seen.

It's great, cooperation is clearly beneficial, but shafting your fellow test subjects is just so deliciously tempting, it's really hard not to....especially when they do it to you.

It comes with a copy of Portal 2 so if someone in your life is uninitiated, you can help them to experience the game in all it's almost original wonder.
